TAKE us out of the Maverick Ahanmisi mix.
This, in effect, was what Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said when asked about the veracity of his team being among those interested in acquiring the do-it-all guard, who is currently an unrestricted free agent.
"Wala kami doon, mga speculations lang iyon," stated Guiao before adding the main reason why he doesn't want him and his team to get involved in the Ahanmisi conversation.
"We have young guards we feel we can develop. We will be patient with them," explained Guiao. "Kaya hindi kami nakikigulo doon."
Rain or Shine has been rumored to be one of the possible destinations for Ahanmisi after his last contract, a one-year pact with Converge, expired last June 6.

The third overall pick in the 2015 draft, who turns 32 years old next month, became an unrestricted free agent, a luxury given to those players who have played in the league for seven years.
It has been reported that the FiberXers management and the players' handlers have failed to come to terms, fueling the speculations.
The rumor mill has churned out the possibility of the American-born Fil-Nigerian possibly playing abroad or even eventually finding a new home in one of the San Miguel Corp. teams.
There have also been speculations of a reunion with Guiao, who while initially still at the Rain or Shine helm, drafted Ahanmisi ahead of such other guards as Scottie Thompson and Chris Newsome.
The two even won a championship together during the 2016 Commissioner's Cup, but Guiao was quick to emphasize that he is quite satisfied with the performance of his backcourt players led by Rey Nambatac, Anton Asistio, Andrei Caracut and Gian Mamuyac.

For Guiao, the possibility of any get-together between him and Ahanmisi would only be discussed should the player make the first move.
"Kung siya lalapit, possible," said Guiao. "Kasi tao ko rin naman iyon, wala kaming masamang pinagsamahan noon. Nag-champion pa nga kami noon. But otherwise, we will just stick to ourselves." (NC)
