Hotshots have no timetable on Marc Pingris' return

MARC Pingris' comeback remains uncertain as the Magnolia veteran continues to recover from an ACL injury that has kept him out of action in the PBA for almost a year now.

Coach Chito Victolero said he's not aware of when the 37-year-old Pingris would be available for the Hotshots, who are currently struggling to regain their form and has been relegated in the cellar of Philippine Cup.

"Si Ping wala pa kaming balita. And I don't know kung kailan siya makakabalik," said the Magnolia mentor.

Pingris went down with the injury during the semifinals of the All-Filipino conference last year and missed the rest of the season, including the Hotshots' successful title bid in the season-ending Governors Cup.

He was set for a March return but continues to sit on the bench in the Hotshots' first five games.

Although Pingris has been voted as part of the North team to the coming All-Star game, he's still been listed as injured.

In as much as Pingris is a vital cog in the Hotshots' roster, Victolero said the team isn't about to rush the return of the Pozzorubio, Pangasinan native to active duty.

"Kung sino na lang muna ang nandiyan, yun lang muna ang focus namin," said the Magnolia coach.

The Hotshots carry a 1-4 record and will have their hands full in the coming three weeks prior to the All-Star festivities.

They face Alaska on Saturday, followed by Columbian Dyip, Barangay Ginebra, NorthPort, Blackwater, and NLEX. (RG)
