Japeth, Gilas bigs expect long night against KAT

JAPETH Aguilar and the rest of the Gilas Pilipinas frontcourt would have their hands full trying to contain Dominican Republic main man Karl-Anthony Towns as they clash Friday night in the FIBA World Cup opener at the Philippine Arena.

The 6-foot-11 Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves is no doubt the main concern of the national team under coach Chot Reyes.

And so it's up to Aguilar and the other Gilas bigs in June Mar Fajardo, AJ Edu, and Kai Sotto to try and if ever, contain the former Rookie of the Year and no. 1 overall pick out of Kentucky from doing his thing.

The 36-year-old Aguilar though, stressed it would be a concerted effort on the part of the Gilas frontcourt to do the job.

"It's not just me, but also my teammates who are defending KAT," said Aguilar on the eve of its team's showdown with the world no. 23 ranked Dominicans.
