Jeff Chan's breakout game hurts Rain or Shine

It's been a year since Jeff Chan left the confines of Rain or Shine, yet up to now seeing him donning another jersey is kind of a weird picture to look at.

It's even more confusing to see him playing for Ginebra and opposite Rain or Shine in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup semi-finals.

But being a professional, the sweet-shooting guard has put his past behind and has move on with the new chapter in his career.

"Basta ako, masaya ako with my new team now. Masaya ako na I'm with Ginebra. Yung team na yun, yung Rain or Shine, I love that team. Maraming nangyari para sa akin doon, pero syempre kailangan mag-move on. Kung saan ako present now, which is Ginebra, dito na ako kasi may goal kami dito," he said.

Ginebra fans have long been waiting for Chan's breakout game. And when he finally did, too bad it has to be at the expense of Rain or Shine, where he played for eight years and won three championships.

The 6-2 sniper collected 21 points on a 3-of-5 shooting from threes, grabbed four rebounds and had two assists in his 21 minutes as the Kings smothered the Elasto Painters, 102-89, in Game One of their semi-final duel.

Chan maintained he has no axe to grind against Rain or Shine. It was all business and nothing personal.

"Medyo kumportable na ako," he explained. "Medyo nakukuha ko na pero not fully. The other day nag-usap naman kami ni coach Tim (Cone) regarding sa role ko, so medyo nabigyan ako ng ilaw," he said.

"Happy ako, syempre, kasi nakuha namin yung Game 1. Pero first game lang yun, may two games pa kami," he said.

"Now, focus kami sa Game 2, masaya lang kami na yung execution namin on defense against Rain or Shine, nag-work. Dapat maging ready kami sa mga adjustments nila," he added.
