VETERAN guard Alex Cabagnot sees CJ Perez finally contending, and eventually winning his first PBA championship now that he's part of the San Miguel Beer family.
The 38-year-old Cabagnot said the two-time scoring champion is definitely a welcome addition to a Beermen unit that is eyeing to regain the Philippine Cup championship this coming 46th season.
"When you get to any team that has a winning culture, and you win championships, the door kind of open up for you," said the nine-time champion guard.
"Hopefully, he himself win a few championships, which could open up doors for him and his family in the future."
San Miguel acquired the services of the former NCAA MVP out of Lyceum from Terrafirma in an off-season trade that also include Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Russel Escoto, Gelo Alolino, and two future first round picks in the 2021 and 2022 drafts, respectively.

The Beermen failed to retain their all-Filipino crown in the last Clark bubble in the absence of key players Terrence Romeo and six-time MVP June Mar Fajardo, both out with respective injuries.
And with the 6-foot-10 Fajardo still likely to start out for the Beermen in the coming season, the presence of Perez will definitely help ease things out for the dethroned five-time Philippine Cup title holder.
"It was huge getting a player of his caliber, leading the league in scoring the last two years during his rookie season and sophomore year, and acquiring his talent for the organization and for everybody else,"Cabagnot noted.
"I'm just exicted for his career," he added. "I'm very excited for his development and the stuff he will encounter in the future." (RG)
