JVee Casio gets the job done

JVee Casio capped Alaska's triumphant return to the playoffs with his first career triple-double against Rain or Shine, in the process earning the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week for the period of February 19-24.

A deadly gunner since his UAAP days with La Salle, Casio showed he was not just a scorer as he grabbed 10 rebounds and issued the same number assists to go along with his team-high 22 points in Alaska's 99-95 win over Rain or Shine last Friday.

The 31-year-old Alaska playmaker sealed the win by burying two foul shots inside the last 11 seconds to secure the Aces' spot in the best-of-three quarterfinals, closing the elimination round with a 7-4 card.

This marks the Aces' return to the playoffs since missing the post season in the two import-spiced conferences last year.

Casio, the league's top overall pick in the 2011 PBA Rookie Draft, sparkled in a game that saw the Aces miss Gilas mainstays Calvin Abueva and Carl Bryan Cruz as well as injured guard Chris Banchero.
