BARANGAY Ginebra formalized playoff entry while also boosting bid for a twice-to-beat incentive in the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals with a 105-93 win over Converge at the Aquilino Pimentel Jr. International Convention Center Saturday.
Christian Standhardinger erupted for 33 points and narrowly missed a triple-double job while Maverick Ahanmisi and Scottie Thompson had their own solid all-around numbers as the Kings stretched their run to four games and assured themselves of at least a tie for second place at the close of the PBA Philippine Cup elims with a 7-3 card.
The FiberXers, on the other hand, missed a followup on their upset of the Meralco Bolts the last time out and dropped to 1-9.
Coach Aldin Ayo and his troops, however, still have a shot at ending their campaign on a winning note versus the TNT Tropang Giga.
The Kings firmed up hold of second place but will still be up for a crucial tiff versus the NLEX Road Warriors on May 5.

But they have got a good buffer on their Cagayan de Oro triumph versus the FiberXers laegely behind the wondrous jobs of Standhardinger, Ahanmisi and Thompson.
Ahanmisi fired 17 points with four-of-six three-pointers and also collected seven assists and six rebounds while Thompson, getting into old form from an injury, piled up 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
CStan, Ahanmisi and Thompson themselves played big roles in Ginebra's 35-21 tear from 48-all count at the half.
Ralph Cu (with 13 points), Japeth Aguilar (12) and Nard Pinto (10) also provided push as the Kings negated Alec Stockton's 32-point sizzler for Converge.
Also starring for Converge were Justin Arana and Aljun Melecio with 18 and 10 points, respectively. (SB)
