AFTER missing their original April season opener target, PBA officials are now biding time, letting the Clark FIBA Asia Cup qualifier go ahead before finally kicking off Season 46 late June or early July.
And even with the two-month delay, league officials said they still have leeway to accommodate a two-conference season calendar.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial and chairman Ricky Vargas and the other members of the board tackle the season inaugurals and other key issues in a meeting Thursday.
"The new target date (for the season opener) is after the FIBA Asia Cup qualifier," said Marcial.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas is hosting 13 FIBA Asia Cup qualifying games, involving 10 teams (Gilas, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Guam, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong) at the AUF Gym in Angeles, Pampanga on June 16-20.

By the time the Clark play is over, PBA ball clubs have spent over a month preparing for the coming season.
Officials hope members of the PBA family have also got vaccinated by then.
And things would be easier if NCR Plus eases to less strict quarantine classification. (SB)
