Long off-season awaits Tropang Giga

A major evaluation will be made within the TNT franchise after it failed to reach the semifinals of the entire PBA Season 48.

Coach Chot Reyes mentioned about the move as he reflected on the campaign of the Tropang Giga in the season about to end, in particular their loss to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters during their quarterfinals match up.

TNT was swept in the last two games of the best-of-three series by Rain or Shine, including a 110-109 win in their sudden-death game at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

"We'll just make do to just sit back, evaluate, take a step back and really look at the team," said Reyes.

"And think about what our plans are going to be looking forward."

The Tropang Giga also endured the same scenario during the Commissioner's Cup, where they lost to top seed Magnolia in the quarterfinals as the eighth seeded team.

But everything appeared to be even against Rain or Shine in the all-Filipino conference where they were seeded nos. 4 and 5 respectively heading to the playoffs.

Unfortunately, the Tropang Giga were inconsistent in their entire campaign and had to bear the injuries suffered by key players, most notably big man Brandon Ganuelas Rosser during Game 2 of the quarterfinals.

"Our record reflected our conference. We could never get into any kind of rhythm, we couldn't get into any kind of consistency," noted Reyes.

"And then when we felt like were going into a groove, we lost Brandon Rosser. And that's just symbolic of our tournament." (RG)
