MAC Belo was primed for a breakout season.
Apparently, his reunion with former coach Nash Racela fueled Belo's eagerness to play at the highest level. Racela will call the shots for the Elite starting this season.
Racela was Belo's college coach at Far Eastern University.
But things turn for the worse even before he could strut his wares this coming season because of knee injury that forced him to go under the knife next week.
"Ang saklap nga eh. Hindi na kaya ng rehab, so I decided to go for a minor surgery. May kukuhanin lang na loose body," he shared.
The injury also forced Belo to give up his chance to be a part of the Gilas Pilipinas pool for the first window of the 2021 Fiba Asia Cup qualifiers.

"Akala ko makakaya sa rehab, pero walang pagbabago eh. Kaya nag-decide na ako," he said.
It's a tough start to the season for Belo, who is expected to be a major contributor in the Elite's campaign in the PBA Philippine Cup.
"Ngayon, kailangan ko na lang tanggapin. Part siguro ng journey," he said. "May konting hinayang din kasi imbes na makatulong ako sa team, eto pa yung nangyari. Pero hopefully maka-recover ako kaagad at makabalik para makatulong sa team." (RL)
