IT was not the perfect time for Marcio Lassiter to savor the moment as the newest member of the PBA's 5,000-point club.
The veteran gunner was officially handed the game ball used when he scored his 5,000-point in the league, but found no time to celebrate it following San Miguel's shocking 134-132 loss to Columbian Dyip in overtime Sunday in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Lassiter achieved the milestone as early as the Beermen's 110-97 loss to TnT Katropa last June 8 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, though it was only three weeks after before the league recognize the feat in a simple awarding ceremony.
Unfortunately, Columbian Dyip wasn't about to give Lassiter a piece of the limelight.
The Dyip sent the Beermen reeling to their fifth loss in seven games and on the verge of being eliminated in the playoffs of the mid-season tournament.

Lassiter finished with 19 points and five rebounds but not enough to prevent San Miguel in losing to Columbian Dyip for the second straight time this season.
Although everything is not yet lost for the Beermen, they now need to sweep their remaining games against NLEX, Phoenix, and Meralco to stay in contention for at least a playoff for the remaining quarterfinals berth.
"We can't keep losing. We somehow get to learn (how) to shoot, and we've got to start it on Friday," said Lassiter of the Beermen's game against the also-ran Road Warriors (2-7). (RG)
