Meralco set to compete in FIBA Asia Champion's Cup

Meralco is set to wave the Philippine flag anew in the 2019 FIBA Asia Champions Cup in Bangkok in September 24-29.

This will be the second straight year that the Bolts will see action in the meet among the top clubs in the continent.

Meralco finished fourth in the 2018 edition after falling to Korean team SK Knights in the battle for bronze.

Reinforcing the team in the cagefest are resident import Allen Durham and former PBA import Renaldo Balkman.

Durham was also Meralco's import in last year's Champions Cup, where he shared the duty with Diamond Stone.

With this, a total of four PBA teams will be flying out on September to represent the country. San Miguel, Blackwater, and TNT will play in East Asia Super League's The Terrific 12 in September 17-22.

All teams are using this opportunity of playing abroad to prepare for the season-ending Governors' Cup.

The next months will be busy for Asia's pioneering pro league due to overseas trips. In October, the PBA will fly to Dubai to hold Governors' Cup games featuring San Miguel, Ginebra, and NLEX.

It marks the league's return to the Middle Eastern country since 2012. Games will be held at the Coca-Cola Arena. (JB)
