Nabong makes homecoming at Blackwater

KELLY Nabong isn't about to fade away from the PBA scene yet.

Left unsigned by NorthPort at the end of the PBA Philippine Cup bubble, Nabong instead found an opportunity to make a homecoming with the Ever Bilena group.

Blackwater and Nabong agreed to a short-term deal Wednesday, leading to the Fil-Am player's return to the team where he spent his playing days in the D-League.

"Galing sa amin yan sa D-League," said Blackwater owner Dioceldo Sy, looking forward to their reunion with the 6-foot-4 center/forward in the coming 46th PBA season.

Nabong is bringing his stuff back to Ever Bilena after bouncing around three teams (Meralco, GlobalPort/NorthPort and San Miguel Beer), in his first eight seasons in the local pro league.

He won two titles with San Miguel Beer before finding his way back to NorthPort in the all-Filipino bubble where he churned out solid averages of 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 11 games.

Even then, the NorthPort management opted to no longer extend his pact.

Also on Wednesday at Blackwater, given playing contracts were three rookie draftees in Andre Paras, Joshua Torralba and Rey Mark Acuno.

Paras was given a two-year contract.

Torralba has also agreed to a two-year deal while Acuno will take a one-year deal. (SB)
