NO early return for Anthony at Phoenix

PHOENIX will continue to miss the services of veteran big man Sean Anthony for the early part of the PBA Governors Cup.

The 35-year-old Fil-Canadian is still recuperating from off-season surgery after removing bone spurs in his ankle.

Coach Topex Robinson said Anthony remains in the team's injury list and is not in a hurry to have him back in the Fuel Masters' active roster.

"Sean is still recovering from his operation. He might miss the first half of the eliminations," said the Phoenix mentor following the team's rousing 103-100 comeback win over Terrafirma Dyip.

"We want Sean healthy, so we're taking it really light with Sean."

The 6-foot-4 Anthony was acquired by Phoenix from NorthPort following a one-on-one trade for Vic Manuel.

Shortly after, he went under the knife to remove the bone spurs that had been bothering him for several years now, eventually taking its toll on his condition during the quarterfinals of the Philippine Cup at the Bacolor bubble where the Batang Pier lost out to the San Miguel Beermen.

But showing he's ready to embrace Phoenix's culture, Anthony was in uniform and sat on the bench during the game against the Dyip where the Fuel Masters' rallied from as much as a 17-point deficit before completing the win.

"Hopefully, he (Anthony) could get back as soon as possible," added Robinson. (RG)
