Patience pays off for Kiefer, Kevin

NLEX rewarded Kiefer Ravena and Kevin Alas for being patient all these years.

The two were signed to contract extensions by the Road Warriors despite going through some difficult moments early on in their respective careers.

Coach Yeng Guiao said the deals serve as rewards for the two young guards after missing out most of the PBA season last year due to various circumstances.

"Si Kiefer suspended ng one year and a half. Si Kevin dalawang ACL na sunud-sunod," the NLEX mentor pointed out.

"They've been very patient, and I think this contract renewal is the reward for that patience."

It was not until the season-ending Governors Cup that both Ravena and Alas rejoined the Road Warriors, who went on and emerged as the top seeded team going to the playoffs. Unfortunately, NLEX got ambush by no. 8 seed NorthPort Batang Pier for a berth in the semis.

There's no doubt though, that having both guards back augurs well for the Road Warriors' campaign moving forward.

"It's also a key ingredient in our quest for a championship yung combination nila," said Guiao. "We're excited and we're very happy about the development."

Having Ravena and Alas around to complement the Road Warriors' backcourt also meant securing the future of the franchise.

"This is our core guard rotation. This is the foundation of our guard rotation and that means they will still be playing side-by-side," Guiao said.

"We're very happy for that because they are very young, and this is the future of our team."

NLEX welcomed the two star playmakers upon signing their contracts led by NLEX PBA governor Rod Franco, MPTC (Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation) president and CEO, coach Guiao, and NLEX assistant vice president Ronald Dulatre.

Also around were NLEX President and General Manager Luigi Bautista, NLEX COO Raul Ignacio, and MPTC CFO and Alternate Gov. Chris Lizo, and MPTC South President Bobby Bontia. (RG)
