With hours to go before the end of the deadline, the Philippine Basketball Association hit a new record in most number of rookie draft applicants, surpassing the previous mark of 91 in 2014.
FIBA 3x3 World Tour veteran Taylor Statham led the bunch that submitted draft application via online late Tuesday, hiking the number of hopefuls for the 2021 PBA Draft to 94.
And it's expected to grow more with the expected last-minute list-ups for the PBA Season 46 draft slated March 14.
Also throwing their hats into the draft list late Tuesday were Alberto Torres, Jonathan Boholano, and Marvin Moraga.
Statham, however, is easily the brightest prospect from this list, considering his background of playing for Cal State San Bernardino, the same school attended by Jimmy Alapag and Asi Taulava.

The 6-foot-6 forward, who also played for Phoenix Westwind Academy in Phoenix, Arizona in high school ball, declared his eligibility for the NBA Draft in 2015 but went undrafted.
He instead strutted his stuff with the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBA G League and had tours of duty in Canada, China, Thailand, and Indonesia before swinging over to the 3x3 circuit playing with fellow Fil-Am player Joshua Munzon.
But like any other Fil-foreign hopefuls, Statham must submit required documents from the Bureau of Immigration and Department of Justice to make the final draft roster. (SB)
