PBA break gives Lee time to rest from thigh injury

IN a way, the break in the PBA Philippine Cup gives Magnolia star Paul Lee time to recover from a hamstring injury.

The 32-year-old Lee was used sparingly in the Hotshots' 105-83 rout of Terrafirma last week as he favored his hurting leg.

He only played 11 minutes and finished with five points on 1-of-5 shooting from the floor in the team's fourth straight win to remain on top of the standings.

The veteran combo guard averaged 19.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in the team's first three outings.

For precautionary measure, coach Chito Victolero opted not to give Lee a long playing time and just rested him on the bench.

"It's not a major injury I think," said the Magnolia mentor. "Kausap ko na naman si Paul and yung mga PT namin. We just wanted to make sure lang. Siguro pahinga lang ng mga ilang araw"

That's exactly what Lee had gotten as it has been exactly a week now since that 22-point blowout win by the Hotshots over the Dyip.

And with the season-opening meet getting an extra respite following the surge in the COVID-19 case of Delta variant, the playmaker out of University of the East will have an added time to recover from the injury.

But Lee already had his check up on the injured hamstring and assured the league-leading Hotshots that everything is fine with him.

"I'm good. Just need to rest lang," he said. (RG)
