PBA D-League: Altas, Knights rumble for crucial win

UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta seeks an all-important victory when it wraps up its elimination round assignment against Wangs Basketball @27 Striker-Letran Tuesday in the 2023 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

The Altas, who defeated the Centro Escolar University Scorpions, 93-72, Tuesday last week hope to sustain the momentum to stay in contention for any of the four coveted spots up for grabs.

The top 2 teams of the eliminations earn outright semifinals berths while the third and fourth seed teams enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

Chances look bright for Perpetual, currently tied with CEU at third and fourth spots with a 3-2 record.

But whatever advantage it holds could go down the drain should it fall victim to Letran.

"Privilege Ito para sa amin... to play against the defending NCAA champion. As a coach, hindi ko pa natatalo ang Letran. In my three years sa NCAA, Letran pa lang ang hindi ko natatalo. Kaya paghahandaan namin, pagta-trabahuhan namin," said Altas coach Myk Saguiguit.

The Knights (2-2) are just as determined to win. A victory against the Altas and against EcoOil-La Salle (4-1) on Thursday we secure them a coveted seat.

"Perpetual is a veteran team. Matagal na silang nagkakasama. Panay beterano natira kaya maganda ang pinapakita nila. Sa amin kahit paano sana mapantayan namin yang level na nilalalaro nila ngayon," said Letran coach Rensy Bajar. (JBU)
