PBA D-League: Archers, Altas begin best-of-3 semifinal series

ONLY two teams stand in the way of EcoOil-La Salle in its title retention bid.

That being the case, the Archers are determined to get the first stumbling block -- the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta -- out of the way sooner than later.

La Salle deputy coach Gian Nazario, who has been entrusted by head coach Topex Robinson to handle the team until the duration of their PBA D-League campaign, admits the challenge in front of them will not be a simple walk in the park.

"We know that there will be ups and downs but it's a chance for us to get better," Nazario said.

La Salle and San Beda begin their best-of-three semifinal showdown in the 2023 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at 4p.m. Thursday at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.

For whatever its worth, the Archers have the psychological edge over the Altas on the strength of their 80-73 win in the eliminations.

The Altas though have the momentum, coming off a 97-90 win over PSP Gymers in their quarterfinals match just 48 hours ago.

UPHSD mentor Myk Saguiguit is keeping his fingers crossed that his wards won't waste the opportunity of being in the Final Four.

"We hope na maging maganda itong journey namin sa first semis namin in D-League. Syempre, La Salle is the defending champion so it's gonna be a good series," beamed Saguiguit.

"Marami kaming matututunan dito. We're gonna bring out our best." (JBU)
