THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) just scored a game winner even before the Governors' Cup finals between Barangay Ginebra and TNT could begin.
The league Board decided to donate the entire earnings of the series opener to all the calamity victims of tropical storm Kristine.
Game 1 of the finals is set this Sunday at the Ynares Cente in Antipolo.
Board chairman Ricky Vargas and vice chairman Alfrancis Chua both made the announcement during the formal presser of the best-of-seven title series held at the Enderun Colleges in Taguig on Thursday.
"Nag-usap kami nila commissioner and chairman, and we decided that yung proceeds for Sunday's game, ido-donate natin lahat sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo," said Chua, also sports director of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) and governor of Barangay Ginebra.

"You can see what happened sa bansa natin, yung mga kababayan natin nasalanta," Chua added. "Ngayon nandito tayo preparing for Sunday's game, and them they're preparing there kung may matitirhan pa sila or may makakain pa."
For the past two days, torrential rains brought about by tropical storm Kristine battered most of Luzon and caused massive floodings in several provinces, specifically the Bicol and Ilocos regions.
Vargas said all proceeds will be coursed by the PBA through the Alagang Kapatid Foundation Inc., the corporate social responsibility organization of TV5 Network Inc.
"Yung ibibigay ng PBA para sa mga nasalanta ng baha, we will entrust it to Alagang Kapatid of TV5. Kilala nyo naman ang Alagang Kapatid. And they will report how they used the proceeds that was given to them by the PBA," said the chairman.
Chua also called on other groups or individuals who are willing to join the league in this noble endeavor.

"Ipagdasal natin sila, at kung meron pang ibang gustong tumulong, nananawagan ako na sana tulungan natin ang ating mga kapatid," said the board vice chairman.
Marcial said the league is also looking at other provinces badly hit by the storm such as Batangas, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas, among others. (RG)
