Last Saturday, the league honored Ret. Maj. Maximo Young of the Philippine Army and his family during halftime of the Petron Blaze Saturday Special matchup between Magnolia Hotshots and Meralco Bolts.

Players from the Hotshots and and the Bolts joined Commissioner Willie Marcial in giving their salute to Maj. Young while his selfless service to the country was recounted on the Big Dome's jumbotron.

Maj Young served three major wars - World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War - and earned 27 military medals from the Armed Forces of the Philippiones and two from the US Congress and the President of South Korea.

"Maganda ito para mapakita, malaman ng mga tao na may pagtingin sila sa mga beterano. Kasi karamihan sa mga beterano, mahirap, paminsan-minsan lang sila nabibigyan ng ganito dito and we appreciate how they took pains showing us to the players as well as the public," the appreciative veteran said.
