Phoenix signs up RR Garcia, Davon Potts

PHOENIX fortified its depleted roster by signing up free agents RR Garcia and Davon Potts for the PBA Governors Cup that comes underway this Friday.

Garcia and Potts are coming over as the Fuel Masters continue to miss the services of the suspended Calvin Abueva and the injured LA Revilla.

Both players are signed up on a short term basis, with the renewal depending on how they will adopt the team system of coach Louie Alas.

"Of course, performance will dictate their potential for extension," said team manager Paolo Bugia.

"They were primarily acquired to fill in the spots of our depleted lineup," added the Phoenix executive. "With Abueva still suspended and Revilla still recovering from an ankle injury."

Garcia last played for TnT Katropa but was relegated in the free agent list. He recently tried for a spot with Rain or Shine, but failed to make the team roster.

Potts meanwhile, failed to strike a new contract with Alaska after his two-year deal expired at the end of the Commissioner's Cup.

The former San Beda stalwart was a second round pick of the Aces in the 2017 draft.

Phoenix plays its first game in the season-ending meet on Saturday against NLEX at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.(RG)
