Racal gets fitting send-off in bubble exit

ALASKA gave fallen Ace Kevin Racal a fitting send-off as he goes out of the PBA bubble.

The team scored a runaway 120-82 victory against Blackwater in the Philippine Cup on the eve of Racal's departure for Manila to have his surgery after incurring an ACL injury right on the opening day of the season restart.

The 6-foot-3 Racal was with the Aces at the Alaska bench at the Smart 5G-powered Angeles University Foundation gym when the team pulled off the huge 38-point rout.

Racal left the bubble on Wednesday, becoming the second player to go back to Manila after San Miguel's Terrence Romeo (dislocated shoulder).

The Alaska forward would have love to stay behind and support his team especially with him not really showing physical signs of his ACL injury.

But upon the advice of Alaska management, it would be better if he'll have his surgery earlier to fast track his comeback.

"I told him that he's going to leave, and the sooner you leave, the sooner you'll be able to comeback," said coach Jeff Cariaso.

"Sayang din yung one month if he's going to stay. That's the plan."

Racal is scheduled to undergo surgery by next Wednesday and projected to be out of action for six to nine months. (RG)
