Reyes sees unbeaten TnT still a long way to go

TnT Tropang Giga may be off to a good start in the PBA Philippine Cup as one of only two undefeated teams.

For coach Chot Reyes though, the team remains a work in progress.

"Still a long way to go. Apparently, you can see. I don't think we've even played three good quarters. I know we've been able to play a couple of good quarters," said Reyes.

"But we're at that stage now where we should be able to string four good quarters together."

TnT won its first three games so far but has yet to be in the shape that made them runner-up behind Barangay Ginebra in the Clark bubble last season.

The Phoenix Fuel Masters exposed the Tropang Giga in their last outing where they dominated them for almost the entire game until TnT went on a closing 14-3 run in the final six minutes to overhaul a seven-point deficit and win, 84-80.

Big man Troy Rosario scored 10 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter to lead the fiery comeback win by the team.

"Credit to the way Phoenix prepared for us when they threw that great defense on us from the start, and it took a long while before we could figure it out," Reyes said.

Reyes added the Tropang Giga have got to be better as a team before they face the top title contenders this conference, among them fellow unbeaten Magnolia, San Miguel, the reigning champion Kings, and Meralco.

"Right now on the basketball court, I think we need to be able to play more good quarters together, we need to be able to string a whole game together. And secondly, I think we have to be mentally tougher," stressed the TnT mentor. (RG)
