RHJ preaches need for TNT to stay locked in after Game 5 loss

RONDAE Hollis-Jefferson admitted TNT needs to stay focus if it is to extend the PBA Commissioner's Cup title series against Barangay Ginebra.

And that includes himself.

The three-time Best Import winner said there is no room for error for the Tropang Giga in a must-win Game 6 on Wednesday after suddenly trailing the best-of-seven finals, 3-2, it earlier led at the onset.

"We just need to lock in and understand how important it is," said Hollis-Jefferson. "We lose, it's over."

By that, the import meant the entire team including him after another struggling game that saw him held to a 7-of-26 shooting (26 percent) in a 73-66 loss Sunday night before a crowd of 12, 447 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

He finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, but was 0-for-4 in the homestretch when the Tropang Giga went scoreless in the final four minutes.

Hollis-Jefferson admitted he also had a hand in the Game 5 loss despite TNT leading by as many as 10 points at the half.

"Me gambling on something I shouldn't gamble on. Turning the ball over. Me missing those easy shots in the paint," he pointed out.

"That's focused. That's 100 percent on us, us players. It's about being locked in."

Hollis-Jefferson added, "Chot (Reyes) said it to us, it's about our mentality going into those crucial moments. Turnover. Wrong read on a defensive play. Allowing someone to reject the screen. All 48 minutes, whether we go up or not. Just staying locked in." (RG)
