Road Warriors level up standard of health protocols in practice

NLEX has raised the ante as far as health protocols in practices are concerned.

The Road Warriors themselves have designed an even stricter guidelines the team will follow when PBA practices finally resume by July 20 or 22.

The health standard by the team is aside from the one approved by the league and certified by the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases).

"Ang sa amin (Road Warriors) nga mas mahigpit pa. Puwede naman e, basta ang importante lang huwag nating babawasan yung standard ng PBA. Puwede mong dagdagan," explained NLEX coach Yeng Guiao.

"We formulated this before pa tayo binigyan ng guidance ng PBA."

The Road Warriors as a team, likewise sought the consent of the IATF for them to be given the green light to resume their training.

Same as the PBA, the franchise also received a positive response from the government agency.

"Naging dalawa nga yung permission (namin). One separate because we wrote them a letter, and then another separate under the authority of the PBA itself as a league," said Guiao.

"Yung ibang teams hindi naman kailangan gawin yun, but kami (Road Warriors) we took the extra step."

For starters, the team has gotten a training facility which NLEX will be exclusively using on its own.

"Suwerte kami sa NLEX kasi yung venue namin sa FCL Building exclusive namin. We have a small weights room na exclusively for us, and then we have the gym itself na exclusively for us. At least for the meantime," said Guiao.

The benefit of a training facility the Road Warriors will be using exclusively on their own was also one of the reasons why the ballclub sought the recommendation of the IATF regarding team practices, added the NLEX mentor.(RG)
