Ruled out for rest of season, Jerramy King tries to be a leader off the court

Jerramy King watched helplessly from the bench as Columbian Dyip tries to put up a gallant stand against the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters in a game it eventually lost, 118-108 on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

"It's tough. Watching your teammates struggle out there and not being able to help. It's tough man, I was really itching to get in and help my team, I'm willing to do anything I can to help the team," said King, who was a candidate last season for the Most Improved Player award.

King, who wears a protective booth in his injured leg and walks in crutches, said the least he could do to support the team to be a leader to the young guys by keeping a positive outlook.

King tore his right PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) during the Dyip's stunning 124-118 victory against defending champion San Miguel last Friday and will be out for the rest of the conference.

The injury won't require him to undergo surgery, though, so King is relieved and thankful.

"I'm still lucky it will (injury) only take two to three months to heal. I've heard a lot of worst stuffs about ACL. I'm lucky it's just my PCL," said the explosive guard.

King said he is sad that he won't be able for the rest of the Philippine Cup but is trying to look at things positively as he tries to be a leader for the young guys.

"It's a tough injury, but everything is in God's hands. If this is my fate so be it. I'll just try to stay positive and come back stronger next time," said King, Columbian's top local scorer last season. (JT)
