Ryan Reyes turning back the clock in PH Cup finals

RYAN Reyes is obviously turning back the hands of time in the PBA Philippine Cup finals.

The veteran guard has been a valuable player off the bench for coach Chot Reyes in TnT's series against the Magnolia Hotshots, delivering once again in the team's 106-89 win in Game 4 that put the franchise on the verge of ending a six-year title drought.

Reyes, 38, submitted numbers of 10 points, two rebounds, and a single assists, while typifying the Tropang Giga's lockdown defense by finishing with four steals.

In four games of the finals, he averaged 6.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals as he moved closer of winning his sixth championship with the TnT franchise where he's been playing for about a decade now.

Reyes credits the resuscitation of his playing career to coach Chot.

"I was just given the opportunity to play for coach Chot. Just the all-out trust and confidence he's been giving us just makes you go out there and play hard," said the 6-foot-2, do-it-all guard.

Reyes began the season as part of the Tropang Giga's reserved list, but eventually earned his way back and became a regular fixture again on Chot's rotation for the rest of the conference.

"Anyone can be called up, put into the game, and give it our best," he said.

"We just play. I just go out there and play. And it's exactly what I did."

Now, Reyes and the Tropang Giga are just a single win away from bagging their first championship since the 2015 Commissioner's Cup, with Game 5 of the title series set Friday at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
