San Miguel pummels all-Filipino Blackwater for 2nd straight win

SAN Miguel Beer shook off a sluggish first half, turning things around in the third period and going on to repulse an all-Filipino Blackwater side, 128-108, in the PBA Governors' Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday.

Import Jordan Adams and CJ Perez led the Beermen's decisive third-quarter juggernaut that carried the team to a second straight win following a 111-107 decision over Phoenix Super LPG in its initial outing.

Adams poured in 16 while Perez tossed in 11 in the third period, and the duo ended up with a combined output of 64 as the Beermen forced a three-way tie on top in Group B with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the NLEX Road Warriors at 2-0.

Coach Jorge Gallent and his troops went back-to-back ahead of their awaited match with Barangay Ginebra Tuesday also at the Big Dome.
After the Tuesday bill that also features the Converge-TNT tiff at 5 p.m., Governors' Cup hostilities swing over to the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.

Adams produced a huge 50-point, 11-rebound double-double, pounding a Blackwater side banking on an all-Filipino crew on the early departure of ineffective import Ricky Ledo.

Rosario logged in 25 points to top score for coach Jeff Cariaso's squad which drew 10 points or more from Barefield (16), Kwekuteye (11), Jewel Ponferrada (11) and David (10).

The Beermen were just too tough to handle as they got their act together in the third, pummeling the Bossing, 38-20.

Perez finished with 14 markers plus seven rebounds while June Mar Fajardo came through with 13 points and 10 boards.

Also finishing with double-digit outputs for SMB were Jericho Cruz with 12 and Kris Rosales and Vic Manuel with 10 apiece.(SB)
