SAN Miguel tapped the services of a young, first time PBA import to help the team in its Governors' Cup playoffs bid.
The Beermen brought in 25-year old EJ Anosike to take over the place of the injured Jordan Adams going to their best-of-five quarterfinals against the Converge FiberXers beginning on Thursday.
Anosike, an American-Nigerian, is a native of Staten Island, New York and went to Cal State Fullerton.
He was undrafted in the NBA but already has an extensive career playing overseas that saw him suit up in leagues in Korea, Belgium, Canada and China.
But Anosike, listed at 6-foot-5 pending his official measurement at the PBA office, has a big shoe to fill in Adams, who carried the Beermen to the quarterfinals, but has been sidelined by a strained hamstring.

Coach Jorge Gallent said there's a possibility the injury could be aggravated in case Adams continue to play, prompting management to look for a replacement in such short notice.
Adams no longer played in the Beermen's last game against Blackwater in a 111-94 loss to George King and the Blackwater Bossing.
Despite the loss, San Miguel still finished seeded no. 2 in Group B with a 6-4 record to arrange a quarterfinals duel with Converge. (RG)
