Is Ginebra's Scottie Thompson the best rebounding guard in the Philippine Basketball Association?
His average rebound per game strongly indicates he is.
During his first two seasons in Asia's first play for pay league, the former Perpetual Help College-Rizal stalwart averaged 6.7 boards, eclipsing the mark of basketball icon Robert Jaworski, who was top rebounder of his class over the same span.
The former Ginebra playing-coach recorded 6.5 rebounds per game in his first two years in the pros.
Biboy Ravanes also distinguished himself as a tenacious rebounder with his 5.7 rpg through his sophomore year while quarterbacking for the San Miguel Beermen.

Interestingly, former MVPs James Yap (4.53 rebounds), Johnny Abarrientos (4.47), Atoy Co (4.1), Jimmy Alapag (3.6), Allan Caidic (3.4), Willie Miller (3.2), and Ricardo Brown (3.0) were way off the mark set by Thompson.
To date, Ginebra's wonder boy, is among the league's top 10 rebounder, tied for ninth with Phoenix's Dough Kramer. He averages 10 rpg three games into the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup.
But as honored as he is for all the praises he's garnering, he'd rather not listen to those and opt to focus on the Gin Kings' bigger goals as he seeks to help his team in every way he could.
"I think yun lang ang best na maibiigay ko sa team ko, yung hustle ko both on offense and defense. Overwhelmed ako sa sinasabi nila, pero sa akin, ginagawa ko lang ang trabaho ko," he said.(DL)
