ENCHO Serrano didn't mind slipping down late in the PBA Season 47 draft, saying he has to prove himself even more that he deserves to be in Asia's pioneering pro league.
The 5-foot-10 wingman was a projected first round pick, but ended up being selected at no. 20 in the second round by Phoenix during the proceedings at the Robinson's Place in Manila.
Serrano, who was MVP and Mythical Team selection of the season's Draft Combine, said it doesn't matter to him if he emerges a first round, second round, or even a lower round pick as long as he can show he's deserving of a spot in any of the 12 teams in the league.
"Kahit anong pick pa yan. Kahit naman first round ka, kung hindi ka naman makakapag-pakita sa training, wala rin," he said.
Serrano suited up for Barangay Ginebra's 3x3 team and anchored the Kings to their first leg runner-up finish against San Miguel in stage 2 of the standalone tournament, and later notched third place in the second conference grand finals.
But somehow he didn't find his way with Ginebra and instead, was taken by the Fuel Masters as one of their three picks in the second round.

A product of De La Salle, Serrano said he'll forever be grateful for Phoenix management for helping him realize his boyhood dream.
"Hindi ko sasayangin yung binigay nilang opportunity sa akin," he said. "Tatrabahuhin ko yun at magiging inspirasyon sa akin yun." (RG)
