Simmons vows to keep deal with NLEX

JONATHON Simmons is looking to end his short stint with NLEX in the PBA Governors Cup in a blaze of glory.

The 33-year-old import vowed to keep on his promise to help the Road Warriors win all of their games before he leaves for China on Sunday.

Following a dramatic 110-108 come-from-behind victory against erstwhile unbeaten TNT Tropang Giga, Simmons looks forward to his final outing with the franchise opposite Phoenix.

And the former NBA player has nothing in mind but a victory.

"A win. Nothing less but a win," he said of the Road Warriors' Saturday game against the still winless Fuel Masters at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

So far, Simmons has lived up to his words as NLEX made it three in a row following the win over the Tropang Giga for a share of the top spot with Converge.

The University of Houston product is averaging 36.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in three games so far, and had his best output against TNT with 45 points while shooting 50 percent from the floor (16-of-32).

Fellow former NBA player Wayne Selden Jr. will be arriving in the country over the weekend to take over the spot of Simmons.

Short his stint maybe, but Simmons has nothing but really nice words about the league and the Philippines.

"It's very competitive. I didn't know what to expect coming in. I just heard good things, good place to be as far as living and food," he said.
