DEFENDING champion San Miguel Beer looks to right the ship in the PBA Commissioner's Cup with a new import on board.
Torren Jones, a 6-foot-9 frontliner with extensive experience in overseas leagues, is taking over PBA import duties from Quincy Miller after the Beermen's stumbling 1-2 start in the mid-season conference.
After holding the fort in the PBA while SMB finds its main import, Miller will return to his original role as one of the Beermen's two reinforcements in the East Asia Super League.
Jones, who last played for Abejas de Leon in the Mexican LNBP league, was activated in time for action Friday when the Beermen face Terrafirma (0-4) at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Gametime is at 5 p.m. with the two protagonists equally determined to stop the bleeding.

SMB didn't have the strongest of starts in this title defense with Miller, gunners June Mar Fajardo and CJay Perez and new acquisitions Juami Tiongson and Andreas Cahilig barely surviving Phoenix 107-104, before bowing to NLEX, 104-99, and Rain or Shine, 103-94.
The troops of coach Jorge Gallent sit in an unlikely position at joint eighth in the standings and the Friday the 13th duel should be a nice day to start making their move, especially ranged against the Dyip crew who have yet to gain traction in the conference.
An interesting sidelight will be the Tiongson and Cahilig playing against their former team and Dyip Vic Manuel and Terrence Romeo facing their former squad for the first time since the blockbuster trade before the import-flavored tournament. (OL)
