Zone play will not be allowed in the Batang PBA which starts on May 7.

Coach Juno Sauler talked about the importance of the 'No zone defense' policy to teach kids about proper defensive and offensive systems that will aid in their physical and mental development which will also be based on honesty and sportsmanship.
The new rule has been explained to the forty coaches of the participating teams in the pro league's summer tournament for kids during the coaches' meeting yesterday at the PBA office in Libis, Quezon City.
Format of the tournament was also discussed during the gathering presided by PBA Deputy Commissioner Eric Castro and Tournament Director Joey Guanio.
Castro explained the league is discouraging teams from playing zone so that kids will get used to playing man-to-man.

Twenty teams are competing in the 14-under category and as well as in the 12-under division.
Both divisions will be divided into four groups of five. The top two teams in each group after the single round eliminations will advance to the crossover quarterfinals. Winners will march to the knockout semis finals.
