Thompson enjoying charmed life

BLESSINGS continue to come Scottie Thompson's way even with the PBA at standstill amidst pandemic.

A month ago, Thompson signed a contract-extension deal with Barangay Ginebra although the 6-foot-1 guard from Padada, Davao del Sur refused to divulge the pact's details.

It's tipped to be a juicy deal with SMC sports director Alfrancis Chua attending the contract signing.

On Tuesday, Thompson posted on his Facebook page a latest milestone as he's signed up to have his own signature shoe line.

"It was only just a DREAM. ST1 coming out soon," said Thompson, tapped to be shoe brand World Balance's product endorser.

WB said Thompson would showcase world-class performance shoes and apparel starting with his debut signature shoe for launch "in the near future."

Thompson is following the footsteps of Crispa legend Philip Cezar who was the first face of WB in the 80s.

In the PBA, Thompson is coming from his best season since turning pro in the 2015-16 wars.

He saved Ginebra's campaign in the Philippine Cup bubble by hitting the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer, 83-80, in the Kings' do-or-die Game 5 against the Meralco Bolts in their semi-final series.

He also made a big impact in their title playoff versus the TNT Tropang Giga. Ginebra grabbed the lead for good in Game Two as Thompson fired a dagger trey in the last 30 seconds.
