Three-game slump brings out the best in Ginebra

Coach Tim Cone needed a three-game losing streak before he finally found the silver lining he' s looking for his Barangay Ginebra.

"You know we look for a silver lining for us. We go through tough times and we gotta find a silver lining," said Cone after they defeat the tournament favorite San Miguel Beer last Sunday.

The Gin Kings after nailing their two straight victories went on a three-game slump and ended it with a close 100-96 decision against the Beermen.

After the game, Cone declared he found the silver lining his team needed.

"The silver lining for us is that we're struggling but we're staying together and were giving others a chance to develop", he added.

He said who would have thought they will beat San Miguel after the way they played in the last three games minus his old reliables in Greg Slaughter, Joe Devance and Art dela Cruz.

"Can't talk enough about Raymond, the other Aguilar. For once he was just phenomenal," said Cone.

The unheralded Raymond aside from taking the role of Japeth Aguilar in guarding Junmar Fajardo also hit big shots .

He chipped in 16 points and hauled down nine rebounds against the Beermen. (Zaldy Perez)
