Tim Cone hopes well-rested Ginebra has recovered from shocking loss to Blackwater

Nine days should be enough for Barangay Ginebra to heal the trauma of an upset by Blackwater the last time out.

And they better should as they face a resurgent Alaska Milk squad next in the PBA Philippine Cup.

The Kings, stopped on their tracks on Jan. 12, return into action versus the Aces in what could well be a slam-bang game Sunday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.

Coach Tim Cone hopes they recover from their shocking 77-94 loss to the Elite while the Aces look to roar on following back-to-back triumphs over the Meralco Bolts (103-98) and the Kia Picanto (102-65).

Alaska was in a beast mode the last time, shattering Kia into pieces.

But the Aces, who dropped their first two games against the Magnolia Ang Pambansang Manok Hotshots and the TNT KaTropa Texters, face another uphill battle in the Gin Kings.

The Gin Kings could only be meaner and tougher coming from a loss.

"We have our work cut out for us. We have really got to improve defensively and take care of the ball," said Alaska coach Alex Compton.

"We will be looking to really be sharper on some of our defensive schemes and take care of the ball. If we do those things, then we will have a chance," Compton added.

The Kings were shaky in their initial games in the season, seemingly still intoxicated by their Governors Cup title run.

But their nine-day break could bring the Kings back in their element.

LA Tenorio said their loss to Blackwater could serve them in good stead.

"Baka dahil don, magising kami. It could be the wake-up call that we need," he said. (SB)
