TNT presses drive vs struggling NLEX

TNT presses its drive while NLEX hopes to finally snap out of a rut as they mix it up in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium Wednesday.

The Tropang Giga and the Road Warriors collide at 7:30 p.m. with coach Chot Reyes' chargers aiming for a fourth straight win against coach Jong Uichico's troops who try to end a four-game slump.

With their 3-0 roll including a 98-96 escape versus Converge in their first game of the year, the Tropang Giga are right there among the lead bunch in the playoffs race.

Halfway through their stint in the elims, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and his teammates are in a good position in the rumble for a twice-to-beat bonus in the quarterfinals at 4-2.

The same can't be said of the Road Warriors who are struggling badly at 3-5.

After a strong 3-1 conference start, Mike Watkins and his teammates reeled to four losses in a row and thus are now outside of the Magic Eight at 3-5.

The Road Warriors hit a big road block even with Watkins delivering big numbers and in fact leading the race for top honors among imports.

The Penn State alum averages a league best 54.9 statistical points built behind 25.4 points, 24.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per outing.

Alas, Watkins' big numbers just can't translate to victories for the Road Warriors.

Running second to Watkins is Kadeem Jack of unlikely league-leader Northport. Jack has accumulated 50.7 SPs while delivering 30.3 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. Next is Ginebra's Justin Brownlee. (SB)
