TNT takes its first of two cracks at an outright berth in the PBA Philippine Cup playoffs in tangling with also-ran Converge Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Though on a rollercoaster ride, the Tropang Giga are expected to get past the FiberXers and even keep their slim hope for a twice-to-beat spot in the quarterfinals.
Game time is at 7:30 p.m. with the FiberXers, at 1-9, just hoping to end their woeful campaign on a winning note.
A win by TNT over Phoenix Super LPG the last time coupled by recent losses by NLEX and Magnolia forged a tie from third to fifth among the Tropang Giga, the Road Warriors and the Hotshots at 5-4.
In their final push in the elims, coach Chot Reyes and his troops take on the FiberXers Wednesday then the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots Sunday.

Mathematically, the Tropang Giga can still gain a share of second spot. But that means TNT sweeping its last two games and at the same time Barangay Ginebra (7-3) losing its final outing against NLEX.
Reyes said they would do their best to handle things in their control, and that includes their game against Converge.
And they hope to get things together sooner than later.
"We haven't played a complete game yet," said Reyes, ruing how the Tropang Giga played "terribly" in the first half before playing well in the second half in their last two outings against Ginebra (83-97 loss) and Phoenix (108-101 win).
"We have to continue working and fixing things to be able to put together a quality 48 minutes." (SB)
