Tropang Giga try to stay perfect, face winless Bossing

THERE would be mixed feelings for TNT and Blackwater when they kick off the PBA Philippine Cup's resumption Wednesday at the Don Honorio Ventura State Unversity Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

"A bit of excitement and apprehension," was how Tropang Giga coach Chot Reyes put it for the combatants who are finally seeing action following more than a month of delay.

"The former over the fact we're finally getting to play. The latter because we don't know what shape we will be," expounded Reyes.

Blackwater coach Nash Racela practically echoed the same sentiment, adding he doesn't really know how his Bossing would fare following just a week of scrimmages since entering the province Monday of last week.

"We tried our best with the preparation time given us, which is one week, to get back into condition, to get back our timing," said Racela.

"Hopefully, again, one week would be enough."

Should TNT show it has hardly been affected by the unexpected layoff since NCR was put under a virtual lockdown due to an upsurge in Covid-19 cases that prompted the PBA to stop play, it would remain spotless and improve to 4-0.

The sense of urgency is still there for Blackwater as it hopes that a change of scenery may yet propel it to a first win after five tries.

"Maka-isang panalo lang naman magtutuloy-tuloy na, hopefully," said Racela.

To have a clearer shot at hitting its target, Blackwater has activated both Frank Golla and Carl Bryant Cruz in the hope the two can help plug the holes in the Bossing's porous defense and at the same time boost their rebounding weakness.

"They're both not yet 100 percent, but the hope is for them to be able to contribute kahit limited minutes lang muna," said Racela. (NC)
