Troy ready to play in finals

TROY Rosario feels confident he'll be able to suit up for Barangay Ginebra in time for its PBA Commissioner's finals showdown against TNT.

The 33-year-old forward sprained his right ankle in the third quarter of the Kings' 126-99 win over Northport Batang Pier in the closeout Game 5 of their semifinals series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

While he never got back to the game and finished with 11 points, two rebounds, and two assists, Rosario appeared unscathed when he went out of the Ginebra dugout after the match.

"Na-tweak lang yung ankle nung third (quarter). Medyo lang naman, medyo maga," he said of his injury.

"Medyo mataas lang. (Pero) nalalagyan ko naman ng weight, which is a good sign."

Good thing, the best-of-seven title series won't get underway until March 14 at the Mall of Asia Arena, giving Rosario enough time to rest and recover his injured foot.

"May one week pa before Game 1. Makaka-recover pa," he said.

In 20 games in his first conference with the Kings, Rosario averaged 12.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, playing a major role in Ginebra earning back a ticket to the finals after losing to TNT in their Governors Cup title duel last November.

Looking at his situation, the big man out of National University said he'll be ready come the opener of the finals series against his former team.

"Si PT (physical therapist) Arcee (Cua) naman positive na bababa (swelling)," said Rosario. (RG)
