Vic Manuel is back and so is his game

ANTIPOLO -- The Muscleman is back.

Vic Manuel showed his old dominant self on Sunday and led the Alaska Aces to a 97-83 victory over Ginebra at the Ynares Sports Center.

The Nueva Ecija native had his way down low as Ginebra's gentle giant, Greg Slaughter, watched helplessly from the bench with a strained hamstring.

Manuel sparked the Aces' killer third quarter on his way to 18 points, five rebounds and two assists performance.

It was a breakout game of sort for the Alaska forward and he's just happy that he's slowly getting himself back after spending most of last season in the injury list.

"Yung injury ko talaga, hindi madali eh. So pinu-push nila ako kung ano ang kailangan ko gawin at nagpapasalamat naman ako na nagbubunga naman lahat," he said.

Alaska improved to 3-2 record with its third straight win and tied TNT KaTropa at third place.

Manuel credits the impressive victory to their chemistry and determination.

"Sa practice pa lang, talagang nakikipag-compete na kami sa isa't isa. Walang easy kahit sa practice, talagang bigay-todo lahat. Sobrang aggressive namin kaya nadadala namin yun sa game," he said.

Manuel hopes the Aces would sustain their energy and stay focused in their succeeding games beginning with Blackwater on Saturday.

"Kailangang every game, focused pa rin kami at mas maging aggressive kami. Kung anong mga ginagawa namin nitong last three games namin, kailangan dalhin pa namin sa mga susunod naming games," he said. (DL)
