Alex Cabagnot moves up to 10th place on the all-time assists list

San Miguel guard Alex Cabagnot reached another milestone Wednesday when he moved past the great Francis Arnaiz for 10th on the all-time assists list in the Beermen's 106-94 victory over the Phoenix Fuel Masters at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

His pass to rookie Christian Standhardinger with 9:46 left in the fourth quarter of the Beermen's first victory in the PBA Commissioner's Cup was the 2,939th of his career, allowing Cabagnot to get past the former Toyota and Ginebra star and join an elite company in the league's top 10 list.

"I think all of the top 10 members are Hall of Famers, so being mentioned in that class is a blessing," said the 13-year veteran who was drafted by Sta. Lucia in 2005.

Robert Jaworski is the all-time leader in assists with 5,825, followed by former teammate and rival Ramon Fernandez (5,220), Dindo Pumaren (4,043), Johnny Abarrientos (3,757), Jimmy Alapag (3,406), Willie Generalao (3,256), Ronnie Magsanoc (3,228), Philip Cezar (3,130) and Olsen Racela (3,085).

The 35-year-old Cabagnot is 61 assists shy of 3,000 and 146 from passing Racela for ninth on the list.
