Chris Banchero was glad to play an integral role in Alaska's comeback win over GlobalPort Saturday despite having difficulty dealing with a personal loss this week.
Banchero had 19 points, five rebounds and five assists to help the Aces produce a 109-103 victory in a fitting tribute to his best friend, Mike de Rossi, who passed away last Thursday in Seattle.
"He was like a brother to me. He's an incredible guy and I'm gonna miss him a lot," Banchero said while trying to compose himself during an interview with scribes.
The four-year guard joined forces with import Antonio Campbell, Vic Manuel and rookie Jeron Teng as the Aces came back from 15 points down in the second quarter to extend their winning streak to five games in the Commissioner's Cup.
Banchero made 6-of-12 shots from the field, including some tough bank shots against the GlobalPort defense.

"I know he was looking down on me today with a couple of my shots so I'm happy we got the win for him," Banchero said.
Aces coach Alex Compton praised Banchero for giving his best effort despite the tough circumstance.
"I know it's particularly tough because he didn't make the funeral," Compton said. "I told Chris before the game to honor him and he honored him by the way he played.
"I'm really proud of Chris to fight through that," added Compton.(JT)
