Belga the most intimidating player for June Mar

LITERALLY towering above everybody else, but June Mar Fajardo claims one PBA player still intimidates him every time San Miguel meets his team on the court.

The six-time MVP considers Beau Belga of Rain or Shine as someone who gives him concern during game.

Fajardo made the disclosure in the program Extra Rice of which Belga serves as host.

"Ikaw," said the 6-foot-10 Cebuano when the Elasto Painter veteran asked him about the player who intimidates him.

"Sobrang nakaka-intimidate ka, e," said Fajardo. "Ang bigat mo."

Not to the extent that Belga gets under his skin, though, as the Rain or Shine big man is a close friend of Fajardo off the court.

"Hindi (ako napipikon). Kasi pag napipikon ako, nawawala ako sa game," said the San Miguel star. "Kaya as much as possible, hindi ako mapikon, focus lang ako sa game."

Despite his status, Fajardo is one of the most affable players in the league. And proof how sportsmanlike the 30-year-old center plays is him being twice named as recipient of the Samboy Lim Sportsmanship Award.

Fajardo's respect for his parents has likewise something to do with how pure he plays the game.

"Tapos nanonood yung parents ko. Nanonood yung mama ko, and ayaw niya nung ganun," he said.

But there's one player who really got the ire of Fajardo and made him lose his temper.

And it happens to be a former Rain or Shine member.

"Yung teammate mo, si Larry Rodriguez," a smiling Fajardo shyly told Belga.

The incident happened in Game 2 of the Philippine Cup semifinals in 2014 between Petron and Rain or Shine when Rodriguez hit Fajardo with a forearm at the back of the neck while the sophomore center was trying to establish position down low.

Fajardo shoved Rodriguez after the incident, but cooler heads were able to separate the two before things got out of hand.

Both big men were whistled for double technical foul. (RG)
