The Filipinos and Polish tangle at 12 midnight (Sunday) in the city of Krakow.

Coach Tim Cone and the nationals are looking to win this one in the hope of boosting their confidence come next week's qualifier to the Paris Olympics.

Gilas is fresh from an 84-73 beating at the hands of Turkey last Friday in its first tune-up game.

Cone welcomes playing against a team that is ranked in the Top 20 in the world.

"Poland is no. 15 in the world so they'll give us a real good feel," said Cone of the team's face off with the Polish.

Like Gilas, Poland is also preparing for the OQT as it will play in the Valencia, Spain tournament where it is in Group B along with Finland and Bahamas.

"Poland is preparing for the OQT in Valencia," Cone noted. "So they may have the full team there. It should be a great indication by the time we get to Riga."

The Polish boast of a pair of 6-foot-9 players in Aleksander Dziewa and Mikolaj Witlinski, but they have two NBA players in their roster in Sandro Mamukelashvli of San Antonio and Goga Bitadze of Orlando.

Shortly after the friendly, Gilas will proceed to Latvia for the July 2-7 qualifier.(RG)
