Converge keeps option open on Hopson

DESPITE relegated in the injured/reserved list, Converge is not about to let go yet original import Scotty Hopson.

Interim coach Franco Atienza said Hopson will continue to be evaluated regarding his health condition especially now the FiberXers have moved closer to clinching a quarterfinals berth in the PBA Governors' Cup.

Jalen Jones came in as a replacement for Hopson and proved himself right away by coming through with 32 points and 10 rebounds in the team's 105-97 win over Meralco Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

But Hopson watched the game over at the Converge bench while he tries to recuperate from a hurting hip flexor that has kept him hobbling in the past three games of the team.

"Right now Scotty is in the injured/reserved list and he's day to day for us," said interim coach Franco Atienza of the import responsible for two Converge wins by way of a four-point shot.

"We want to keep him there as an option, so we will continue to evaluate yung prognosis niya."

Franco however, gave the 31-year-old Jones a high mark right on his debut with Converge.

"A+," he said of his grade to Jones' performance.

"Of course, Scotty is a different specimen and ito naman si Jalen brought a different aspect of the game," Franco said.

"But we are very happy. Hopefully, he (Jones) sustains it." (RG)
