Hard work and positive mindset keep Dyip afloat for first win

STANLEY Pringle didn't lose hope even when the chips were down for Terrafirma.

It's just a matter of keeping a positive mindset and staying together through bad and good times.

And on Thursday, the sun finally shone on the Dyip as they finally pulled through with a huge victory over PBA Governors' Cup leader TNT, 84-72, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Pringle played a huge role in the franchise's breakthrough win this conference, scoring 13 of his 18 points in the final quarter to help the Dyip keep at bay the Tropang Giga.

The veteran Fil-Am also added five rebounds and two assists, while trying to keep the mood upbeat inside the dugout after losing its first eight games.

"We all stood together. At first everybody gets frustrated. Then after a while, we kept losing. And we were just like, 'hey were losing.' We might as well have fun and keep working hard," said the 37-year-old guard.

As they began playing with fun, the Dyip came close of finally stopping the bleeding as they lost back-to-back games against Magnolia and Converge in a pair of matches that could have gone either way in the endgame.

"Coach John kept talking to us. We had two close games, and we should have won those games," recalled Pringle.

"But we stayed positive, kept pushing in practice until we came up with the win."

The Dyip hope to finish their campaign on a high as they seek a follow up victory in their final game of the conference against the Meralco Bolts on Saturday. (RG)
