GILAS Pilipinas ramp-up its preparation for the 32nd Cambodia Southeast Asian Games when it holds a closed-door camp in Laguna starting on Sunday.
Coach Chot Reyes said the national team will be entering the Inspire Sports Academy inside National University in Calamba for a six-day training camp before departing for Phnom Penh on May 6.
The Gilas pool is set to hold a twice-a-day practice in a last-minute bid to boost its SEA Games training.
"We're going to do a lot of cramming, for lack of a better word," said Reyes. "We want to have everyone there. Not just for the basketball practices, but for the team's development."
The same NU gym once served as training camp for the national team when it was still handled by Tab Baldwin during the early years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gilas holds its final practice at the Meralco gym on Friday and then will have a break Saturday for the official FIBA World Cup draw, before proceeding to Laguna the following day.
The Filipinos have been bracketed in Group A with Singapore, Malaysia, and Cambodia.
The team plays Malaysia on opening day on May 9 as it gets rolling its bid to regain the SEA Games men's basketball gold. (RG)
